Top things to Do in Salzburg

  • Take a good read and head to the Panoramabar in the Public Library in the area of Lehen. It was built in 2008, a true architectural gem of Salzburg! You can enjoy cheap coffee, a stunning view of the city and hopefully some good company up there 😉
  • Leave the touristy specialities like “Mozartkugel” or “Salzburgernockerl” behind and go and grab the unofficial signature dish of Salzburg. The Bosna – it’s similar to a hotdog but much better! The place where it was invented – the Balkan Grill – is right next to the Getreidegasse (the busiest shopping street in town) ! Go to the “Durchhaus” in Getreidegasse 33 and treat yourself to this delicious snack.
  • If you’re lucky, and it’s not raining in Salzburg (it’s the city with the most rainfall in Austria) – take the chance and sit at the Salzach with a local beer on hand, some good company and just enjoy life. Our favourite spot at the Salzach is in between the Staatsbrücke and the Nonntalerbrücke.
  • The city of Salzburg is one of the most historical cities in the whole country… It’s difficult to find and learn the most interesting facts and exciting places to see. The easiest and best option would be to join the daily Free Walking Tour in Salzburg where you have the chance to be guided by a local professional guide. It’s the best way to dive into this city! Highly recommendable!
  • As the “Hausberge” of Salzburg are omnipresent it’s a must to climb at least one of them, to enjoy the views of the city and its surroundings. Our favourites are the Kapuzinerberg and the Mönchsberg. Particularly the Humboldt- Terasse on Mönchsberg is perfect for romantic hours with your loved ones <3
  • Beer is something very precious and important in the charming city of Salzburg. There are various small breweries still in private hand, which is actually not easy in a world where big-ass breweries try to control the market. The small scale breweries produce delicious beer and that needs to be supported! We recommend the brewery “Die Weiße” or the “Müllnerbräu” which both have various delicacies to offer and in particularl the “Müllnerbräu” has a fantastic beer garden to enjoy in the summer time, where you can even bring your own food whilst enjoying their delicious beer.
